Sonar Inspection

VRT Finland Ltd. surveyed nearly 9 km of underwater structures including about 3 km of breakwater for the port of Aarhus on the east coast of Denmark. The port needed a better overview of the underwater constructions  the breakwater reckoned especially critical.

Port of Aarhus authorities received visualized images of the quay walls and the adjacent seabed, an inspection report and a 3D model. VRT also compiled additional cross-sections of the breakwater to facilitate repair work. “The breakwater inspection part was especially important for us because we knew there were some deformations. We hope that with the  knowledge gained from this inspection, we can in future act proactively and prevent potential damage”, Mr Eriksen says.

“We got a good overview of the seabed and identified some previously undiscovered problems on our quay walls. Our cooperation worked really well already before as well as during and after the inspection. The service provided by VRT was excellent and the presentation by the CEO of the results was good for us”

—Anders Eriksen, Head of Port Engineering at Aarhus
