Port of Oxelösund, “The All Inclusive Port” in Sweden, is located in the middle of multiple transportation possibilities; motorways, railways and even an airport are very near. The port is committed to the best possible customer experience by ensuring efficient, safe and sustainable services for the logistics industry.
Port of Oxelösund has a maintenance plan which includes quay inspections every third year. This year they wanted to go through the condition of port structures with more detail than before with diving inspections. VRT’s multibeam sonar and laser inspections offer extremely detailed information about the status of vertical structures above and below water and the adjacent seabed at the same time. The inspection was done with small and agile survey vessel without causing any downtime on busy port’s operations.
Detailed 3D data online for predictive maintenance
The results of the inspections were delivered to Port of Oxelösund via VRT BIM online service, which enables the Port to utilize the results easily in maintenance planning. Port of Oxelösund received a full report and an online meeting with VRT’s licenced inspector to go through all the observations. As the inspection offered a complete understanding about the condition of the structures and seabed, it is possible to make exact comparisons with future inspections’ data to see whether there are changes in sediment drift or concrete weathering for example. These first results did reveal some new repair needs, but all in all the structures were in good condition.
The results were very good. The quay structures were in better condition than we expected.
